Travelling through Bangladesh is cheap. Tipping is encouraged in most restaurants frequented by foreigners, expect around 5%.

CLIMATE

The climate in Bangladesh is tropical though it has a mild winter through October to March and a hot and humid summer between March and June. The rainy monsoon season is humid and warm between June and October when it is prone to flooding.

POPULATION

The estimated population of the country is 138million with around a 2% growth rate. The main religions are Muslim 83% and Hindu 16%.


Lalbagh Fort

It was built in 1678 A.D. by Prince Mohammad Azam, son of Mughal emperor Aurangazeb. The fort was the scene of bloody battle during the first war of independence (1857) when 260 sepoys stationed here backed by the people revolted against British forces. Outstanding among the monuments of the Lelbagh are the tomb of Pari Bibi (Fairy lady), Lalbagh Mosque, Audience Hall and Hammam of Nawab Shaista Khan now housing a museum.

On the bank of the river Buriganga in Dhaka the pink majestic Ahsan Manzil has been renovated and turned into a museum recently. It is an example of the nations r cultural heritage. It was the home of the Nawab of Dhaka and a Silent [spectator to many events. Today's renovated Ahsan Manzil is a monument of immense historical beauty.

COX'S BAZAR

Adinath Temple is situated on the peak of the Moinak Hill with the fascinating natural scenarios of Mohaskhali island. This place is regarded as the holiest place for the Hindu Community. ‘Shiva night’ is celebrated with befitting solemnity and excitement in the month of Falgun every year.
